The nonprofit Davis Park Medical Association (DPMA) owns and maintains a dwelling, "Bedside Manor", at 7 Dune Walk in the Ocean Ridge section of Davis Park, Fire Island. This dwelling is rented during the summer season to doctors and nurse practitioners who provide basic medical services during scheduled office hours and who are on call at all other times during their residence there. Members of the DPMA include any persons owning or leasing a cottage in Davis Park who pay a tax-deductible membership fee of $60 per year. Directors and Officers of the DPMA are community volunteers who are elected at an annual meeting each summer.

  • The Bedside Manor medical office is equipped with basic medical equipment and supplies
  • A heli-pad near Bedside Manor and used by Suffolk County provides emergency evacuation capability

    Dear Friends,

    Our plans for the much needed improvements at Bedside Manor are proceeding and the work has already begun. We are very excited about this project and hope you are, too. 　

    Estimated costs are in the neighborhood of $60,000 and include the following:　
    • Repairs to pilings, girders, and cross-bracing;　
    • Additional electrical and plumbing;
    • Repairs of defective deck boards;　
    • Bathroom renovations;
    • Floor refinishing;
    • Cleaning of walls in living room, halls & doctor's office;
    • New outdoor shower;
    • New shed for washer/dryer/hot water heater, & storage.　

    The necessary funds will be raised through a combination of approximately $20,000 from the DPMA account and the proposed sale to DPMA members of 20-year callable bonds in the amount of $3,000.00 each, paying 4% interest annually. A total of $75,000 in bonds will be authorized but only the necessary amount will be issued initially.

    As far as redemption is concerned, bonds may be called back at any time or from time to time, in whole or in part, at the discretion of the DPMA Board. It is anticipated that the DPMA may be in a position to call back all bonds before the 20-year termination date.

    We will also gratefully accept donations. Those donations of $1,000 or more will entitle the donor to a bronze plaque to be placed at Bedside Manor.
